New Activities!

Sophia and I were happy to return home to Dada and Leland after our 10 day stay with Mia and Poppop in NJ. During the time up there, Sophia started batting at her hanging toys- there's still debate on whether it was intentional or not but at least she seemed to start getting the idea of cause and effect. She's also a bit more predictable with somewhat of a schedule. Her personality is starting to come through... We thought it was therefore time for her to try out her exersaucer and her big girl stroller, the Bob! She seems to love both new activities!

Easter Sunday and extras

Mike, Sophia, Leland and I had a great Easter weekend in NJ. We had a lovely Easter lunch with friends and family on Sunday. We had many hands to help hold and play with Sophia.Sophia is wearing her first dress/bloomer/tights combo in some of the pics. Luckily Aunt Rinnie was there to help us put it on her. Thanks Rin! We didn not have an egg hunt this year but I'm sure we'll have one next year. We had the traditional egg dying and cracking but she didn't quite grasp the concept.
Sophia is about 13 weeks now and has certainly discovered that she can put her hands in her mouth! She's just starting to grasp the idea that she can hold things in her hands as well. Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend. Enjoy the blog!

11 weeks

Hi Everyone! I’ve been meaning to post another blog note for weeks now but someone keeps distracting me. If you can imagine, her name begins with an “S” and ends in an “a”. It’s been so long since my last posting that I didn’t even post her 2 month visit with Dr. Ranney. Sophia is now at the 50-60% for height and weight so she is certainly growing great. We are supposed to be introducing vitamins to her but she is not so sure of the grape flavored drops. It’s becoming quite the battle. Now she is at the age (11 weeks) where she’s interacting more and more. She is certainly smiling at anyone who tries to talk to her, she’s discovering her vocal cords, and is on a more regular schedule. While the pattern of eat, sleep, socialize, and diaper change remains the same, the intervals of each activity are extending much to our delight! It seems that, while she is a night owl staying up until 9 or 10 at night, she is more of a morning baby. Mike and I enjoy bringing her into bed with us (when she stirs around 6:45am) only to listen to her “coo” and “howl” over and over again. It’s quite entertaining! She is really enjoying “standing” now too. If her fussiness isn’t calmed by eating, sleeping or having a diaper change, usually it means that she wants to be on her feet. Mike swears she is trying to walk but I’m not so sure she’s quite ready for this developmental milestone ;) Enjoy some of these new photos.

Jerzee Girl

Sophia, Mike, Leland and I just took our first road trip to Jersey. Sophia did a great job traveling. She seems to really like the sounds and vibrations of the car. She slept the whole way! We had a great trip and were able to see lots of friends and family. We had ~10 inches of snow so my mom was able to take a snow day from work and extend her weekend with us!! Erin and Ed (my sister and brother-in-law) came to visit from Brooklyn. Ashley, my best childhood friend, also spent the weekend. Dave Czehut, a good friend of ours, came down from NY as well. Our three cats, Rudy (pictured), Paris, and Chelsea seemed more interested in the baby than Leland. They were all curious indeed. We had a nice afternoon visiting now great grandma Margaret. It was neat to have 4 generations together. Aunt Rinnie was able to visit the second weekend and was sure to rotate Sophia's outfits so she (Sophia) wouldn't get bored with what she was wearing. On our last day together, we took Sophia out to go shoe shopping at DSW- the first of many trips I'm sure!

Grandma and Grandpa Lipinski Visit!

We had a great week this past week. Grandma and Grandpa Lipinski came to visit from California! Sophia kept everyone busy, of course, but I was able to get some rest! We had some great meals, did a 2000 piece puzzle and even went on out for lunch one day. Here are some photos from Grandma's camera. Obviously, this first one is before Sophia decided to join us.

Smiling at 1 Month!

Mike and I were so excited on Friday (her 1 month bday) when Sophia showed her first purposeful smile. It was pretty amazing. She's going to be trouble with the boys! We also gave her her first real bath this weekend. The pressure was on to see how she would respond to the water. She didn't seem to mind at all! Hopefully that will hold true!
